Description/Condition

Good-. Bound in contemporaneous quarter calf, with marbled boards. Covers a little rubbed but sturdy and serviceable. Five raised bands and gilt lettering to spines. The joints are largely cracked, although the bands hold the boards very steadfastly. The free endpapers are missing from volume I and 4, as is the rear free endpaper of volume 3. Armorial bookplate of 'W. M. Owen Esq of Woodhouse' (William Mostyn-Owen) to each front pastedown. Lightly toned throughout and with mild foxing largely confined to the very outermost leaves. There is a scanty few instances of neatly penned marginalia to volumes 1 and 2.
